MONDAY MEDITATIONS FOR HEALING: The Beginning & A Commitment to Self for Caregivers

Happy Monday!
Here is today's meditation to inspire your spirit to self-healing this week! Have a WONDERFUL week!

Today's Quote

"There will come a time when you believe everything is finished....

That will be the beginning."

~Louis L'Amour

A Commitment to Self for Caregivers
(whether you are a healthcare provider or a family member caring for a loved one):

Change is hard.

Sometimes the only way we are able to change is to reach a point where we feel there is no way we can continue to live the way we are living.

And so in desperation, we are finally willing to try to live another way.

In 12 step recovery we call that "our bottom."
In the deepest despair we find a new beginning.

Sometimes in life it doesn't need to be that dramatic--sometimes change is small but feels much bigger than it is....

This week I will look at my life and see where I am resisting a change.

Instead of fighting that change I will try something new.  I will embrace it!

And when I let go of the thing I didn't want to change, I will discover the joy & freedom that come with CHOOSING a new beginning rather than resisting it!

MONDAY MEDITATIONS FOR HEALING: Character & A Commitment to Self for Caregivers

Good Morning!
Here is today's meditation to inspire your spirit to self-healing this week!
Have a WONDERFUL week!

Today's Quote

"The best index to a person's character is
(a) how he treats people who can't do him any good, and
(b) how he treats people who can't fight back."

~Abigail van Buren (Pauline Esther Friedman)

A Commitment to Self for Caregivers
(whether you are a healthcare provider or a family member caring for a loved one):

Sometimes while we caregivers deal with the daily stressors in our own lives we forget to be kind to those around us.  We feel badly when we treat our friends & family with sharp words, but do we notice when we direct unkindness to those in our lives that cannot fight back?

The cashier at the grocery store, the waitress at the restaurant, the janitor at the office, the teachers aide at the preschool, the customer service phone representative.  We know that it is unlikely that any of these folks will be able to help us succeed professionally or personally.  So we treat them with indifference or even rudeness.

This week I will remember that no matter what is going on in my own life, I will learn to pay attention to the people in my life.  ALL of the people.  Particularly the ones that provide me services.  I will remind myself to be grateful for the small services that go unnoticed by so many.

I will do my best to find something kind to say to let each person know that I SAW them--to let each person know that their place in the universe matters to me.

I will remember that by with just one kind word, I can alter the quality of someone's life by making them feel valued.

I can be a person of character, one day at a time, starting now.

MONDAY MEDITATIONS FOR HEALING: Gratitude & A Commitment to Self for Caregivers

Good Morning!  Here is today's meditation to inspire your spirit to self-healing this week!

Have a WONDERFUL week!

Today's Quote

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life

It turns what we have into enough, and more.

It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.

Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.

~ Melody Beattie

A Commitment to Self for Caregivers
(whether you are a healthcare provider or a family member caring for a loved one):

This week when my heart feels heavy, life feels out of control or I feel resentful that I have nothing more to give, I will pause for a minute and make a gratitude list.

I will remind myself that this list doesn't have to be full of the "bold gestures."

Sometimes all I need is to remind myself that I have clothes on my back, a warm home to sleep in and a friend to love.  And maybe, just for today, that is enough.

MONDAY MEDITATIONS FOR HEALING: A Commitment to Self for Caregivers & Perfection is Impossible

Good Morning!  Here is today's meditation to inspire your spirit to self-healing this week!  I realize that many of you long time readers have seen this one in the past--I just feel that it really speaks to my heart right now so I'd like to share it again! I hope it is helpful.

Have a WONDERFUL week!

Today's Quote

Today, I ask my Higher Power for the ability to accept and love myself for where I am today.

Help me remind myself that I am a work in progress

Like a tree that grows from self-care and nurturing,
I will only grow if I'm gentle with myself.

A Commitment to Self for Caregivers
(whether you are a healthcare provider or a family member caring for a loved one):

This week I will remind myself that there is no "perfect" way to care for someone.

Perfection is impossible, just doing our best for today is enough.

MONDAY MEDITATIONS FOR HEALING: A Commitment to Self for Caregivers & Letting Go

Good Morning!
Here is today's meditation to inspire your spirit to self-healing this week!
Have a FANTASTIC week!

Today's Quote

"There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self"

~Aldous Huxley

A Commitment to Self for Caregivers
(whether you are a healthcare provider or a family member caring for a loved one):

This week I will stop trying to control other people.

Not only does it not work, it also creates a lot of stress and allows me to focus on other's problems rather than my own.

Each day this week I will commit to only focus on gently improving myself and I will let go of cataloguing other's flaws.

In releasing those around us from our critique & judgement we can learn to live a kinder, gentler life with compassion to others and to ourselves.
A healthier life.
A life with sanity and serenity.
A life that we are proud of and grateful for every day.

MONDAY MEDITATIONS FOR HEALING: A Commitment to Self for Caregivers & Serenity Through the Holidays

Good Morning!
Here is today's meditation to inspire your spirit to self-healing this week!
With the chaos of the season: pause. breath. heal.
 Have a WONDERFUL week!

Today's Quote

"One evening an old Cherokee elder told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside of people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

To which the Cherokee elder simply replied, "The one you feed."

A Commitment to Self for Caregivers
(whether you are a healthcare provider or a family member caring for a loved one):

In this time of joy as we gather families together we also face the challenge of dealing with personalities & pressures to people-please that may not generate serenity in our lives.

We may find ourselves resenting the burden of our caregiving when others around us appear to not have the limitations of similar responsibilities.

Committing to self healing is more important than ever today and every day in the coming week.

With this in mind, this week I will make a commitment to feed the Good Wolf.

Despite all the chaos around me, the demands of family & friends and the responsibilities of those I care for, I will remember that the quickest way to find serenity in myself is through gratitude for what I have and compassion to myself & those I love.

MONDAY MEDITATIONS FOR HEALING: A Commitment to Self for Caregivers & Choosing Not to "Overgive":-)

Good Morning!
Here is today's meditation to inspire your spirit to self-healing this week! This meditation is a personal favorite. Have a WONDERFUL week!

Today's Quote

"No matter how much we have materially, we are often in a place of scarcity:  we never think we have enough or that we're good enough.  Instead of getting loss in a sense of lack, once we realize we are part of something bigger, it becomes clear we have many gifts to offer the world."
BUT
"When you are overgiving, you are not living in abundance, but in scarcity.  When you give from a place of service, honesty, and fullness, you are left feeling revitalized.  When you give from a place of responsibility & obligation, you negate the gift and nothing changes.  You may in fact be left feeling resentful and drained.
What lack are you trying to fill in yourself by overgiving?"

~Mbali Creazzo from "29 Gifts" by Cami Walker

A Commitment to Self for Caregivers
(whether you are a healthcare provider or a family member caring for a loved one):

This week I will make a commitment to find my own limits.
I will choose to not "overgive."

When I find myself feeling resentful and drained I will step away from the situation as soon as I am able and ask myself--Do I really NEED to do this?  Or Am I Overgiving?

If the answer is that I'm overgiving, the challenge is to stop and do no more.

I commit to only giving from a place of service, honesty and fullness.
